Right to Representation
A member has a right to say:
If this discussion could in anyway lead to my being disciplined or terminated or cause an effect on my personal working conditions, I respectfully request that my union representative, officer or steward be present at this meeting. Without representation present, I choose not to participate in this discussion.
Right to Refuse Unsafe Work
Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, section 43(3), an Employee may refuse work where he or she has reason to believe that there is a danger to health or safety. Upon refusing work the employee shall immediately report the circumstances of the refusal to the Employer or Supervisor. You have the right to refuse unsafe work. USE IT!
