Metrolinx and the construction consortium building the Eglinton Crosstown LRT say they have reached an agreement that will keep the massive transit project on schedule and on budget.
The 2021 opening date for the $5.3-billion light rail line was thrown into doubt in Julywhen Crosslinx, the group of construction companies building the project, filed a notice of action against Metrolinx in Superior Court seeking unspecified monetary damages and an extension of the completion deadline.
The consortium alleged Metrolinx — the provincial transit agency for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area — had failed to live up to its side of the contract and forced Crosslinx to incur damages and increased costs. Metrolinx fired back by seeking a stay of the action in the court. The matter was scheduled to be heard next week.
